EUPHORIA!!!

The semesterly rave/dance hosted primarily by ISA (International Students Association) was a successful and fun event down at the Dolan last weekend! Euphoria used to be in the dining hall, but due to it's high demand and size, it had to be moved to bigger venue.
The first Euphoria this year was actually in October, but it had to be shut down because people were not adhering to the event staff. The Dining Hall hit capacity at about midnight, so we told people that they were not allowed in, they got out of control and for the safety of everyone, we had to shut it down. So, it is primarily from an event managers perspective that I am saying the Euphoria in the Dolan was a success! A lot of work for our Office as well, but when people are happy and something goes well, it's worth it!
What is it about Euphoria though that makes it such a hit with the students? It's kind of funny to me that this is the event that students from all years and multiple groups of friends come out for. Not a sporting event or concert, but a DANCE with techno music and glow sticks! Kind of makes sense since dancing is awesome and one of the universal interests among most college students. But that's all it is! There is no booze, food, or other entertainment offered. I guess sharing a dance with fellow Clarkies and friends is all it takes to make the majority of the campus happy... Sounds good too me!

Lovin' Cougars is not a crime!

As you may have figured out at this point, I am a sports fan and very interested in what's going on with Clark University Athletics especially. We are the Clark University Cougars. Being a 'Clarkie' is also part of our identity, but we as a school are officially the Cougars.Clarkies and Cougars alike, have fun with the double meaning of the term Cougar in this new age. One Cougar, David Opp, is taking the slogan, "lovin' cougars is not a crime!" campus wide with his t-shirts campaign to promote school pride and Cougar spirit! The t-shirt is basic, but bold, and is a message that we, student athletes want to send to try and get a little more school spirit and humor at our competitions. Above is a picture of me sporting the tee, along with friend and creator, Dave Opp. If you want to find out how to have your very own cougar t-shirt, contact Dave at dopp@clarku.edu or check out his facebook group for the T-shirts!

"It's like deja vu all over again!"

To quote the famous Yogi Berra, I feel this quote perfectly describes graduate school for me this year! I am in the same place that I did my undergraduate studies at, so I know a lot about the stuff that goes on, or the big events that go on, but now that I am an alumni and staffer of the school, I am seeing it all over again, through different eyes... and I'm not sure what to think of it.

One thing that is going on in the Clark Community currently is that we are looking for a new Athletic Director. Our current Athletic Director, Linda Moultan, is leaving Clark in December after being here for 23 years.  It is a great opportunity for Clark to make a positive change in the atmosphere around athletics at Clark and to the Clark Community at large because of the new president, David Angel as well!

Life at Clark... after life at Clark

After 4 years at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, I have an undergraduate degree in geography, and now I am doing the 5th year program and getting my masters in Professional Communications through the College of Professional and Continuing Education (COPACE) at Clark. Not only am I continuing to be a student, but I am also interning through the Student Leadership &Programming office at Clark and being an assistant coach for the Clark Women's Tennis team. So I am wearing many hats here in my 5th year and feel that this transition from undergraduate to graduate, has been different than what I expected and the new perspective is one that I wish to share with others within the Clark community. I also hope to encourage the alumni, current graduates, and current undergraduate Cougars and Clarkies to stay involved in what is going on at Clark.

Clark has and continues to mean a lot to me, and I want to share my new experiences here to hopefully make more connections between fellow Clarkies and Cougars!
